New Curriculum Pupil Assessment Sheets – with self assessment!

I made another set of pupil assessment sheets for the new curriculum, but with that added column for pupil self assessment too. This of course may not suit Year 1 or maybe even Year 2, but a TA, or other adult, could check with children at the end of a topic and tick it with them, otherwise stick with the straight teacher sheets.

I feel these  assessment sheets will be good to track and assess the basic ‘minimal entitlement’  curriculum that schools need to ‘deliver’ (yuk) but it is up to teachers to spring board from this and really allow the pupils to ask their own questions and follow their own enquires to find answers. If anything, these are a basic coverage tick list to keep track..and not a ‘tick it, science is done list’! (Please no!)   I like to think teachers and pupils can comment on all the extra enquires they do in the comment boxes!

Like I said before, I envisage these being in each child’s science book/folder or on card and taken out after/during topics. They could be photocopied and given to the next teacher too and kept as a running science record and also used to report to parents – save all that writing things out again and again!

Do let me know if you spot any errors too!

Science Assessment for the present currciulum

Some people have asked for my assessment booklet for the present curriculum. This might also help in the transition between the two curricula. It is quite a hefty booklet to impose on teachers, they might freak out at first! Some people I know have just given the skills sections to their teachers to use for the year. Really the booklet looks scarier than it is considering that it’s for levels so teachers may only use one or two pages for each strand for their class.

I think one thing the document shows is how much there was in this present science curriculum and how levels did mess with the science in a lot of ways – I prefer the new science curriculum (aaah look, now I said it out aloud) and I prefer my new individual pupil sheets. You’ll note that I’ve  made individual science enquiry assessment sheets for this curriculum which are here on my blog – more user friendly and for pupils too – always better. Anyway, present whole class curriculum assessment booklet below to click on:
